Inaugurated recently, the Day Center for People with Disabilities (PWD) is now fully operational. The service was delivered by the Presidente Kennedy City Hall on the anniversary of the municipality’s political emancipation day, April 4, and is already receiving service users at its headquarters, where they participate in various activities and receive social assistance support.
The Day Center is a specialized unit that will provide care to people of all ages with disabilities and some degree of impairment. It will operate from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with the purpose of promoting autonomy, social inclusion, and improving the quality of life of these individuals, regardless of gender, whose limitations have been exacerbated by violations of rights.
The service will also impact the quality of life of the families of the users, as they will have a reduction in workload and care burden. While their loved ones are assisted by the Day Center team, caregivers can rest, undergo medical exams and consultations, among other things.
“In addition to all the benefits that the implementation of the Day Center will bring to users and their families, the service will enable greater effectiveness in the actions of the Department of Social Assistance. This is invaluable and is a commitment of our administration: to take care of our citizens,” highlighted Mayor Dorlei Fontão.
